Going Home | Gulf Coast First 48 Hospital Newborn Photography Mobile

It’s time to see some more of Mr. A and his family – this time with him 2.5 days new. 🙂 His hospital newborn session is a bit unique in that we timed it to take place as they were going home. A super exciting time, though something little A wasn’t quite sure of.

Let me start by saying that this handsome fellow’s name means “strong”, which fits him perfectly. He has got to be at the tippy top of my most alert babies list. From his birth, all the way to the last 20ish minutes of his newborn session, I only saw him awake. He certainly wants to know what’s going on, and doesn’t want to be left out of anything. I do believe he could tell there was something different about this day, that something new was about to happen. He wasn’t too keen on being laid down, so there were lots of mommy and daddy cuddles going on. I absolutely love how every session is different. When following the cues and needs of small children, how could they not? Because really, I allow the little ones to guide the direction I take. The result is a gallery just as unique as my client and their family.

As I mentioned when sharing A’s birth session, he had a newborn session as well, which took place when he was thirteen days new. I am honored to have been able to capture so many great moments and details of the beginning of his story, and can’t wait to share more of his photos with you.

Until then, here are some highlights from his fresh 48 session. Enjoy!

Welcoming Baby Boy | Birth Photography Mobile, AL

Happy Valentine’s Day! What a perfect day to share this little guy’s birth story. After all, the love parents have for their children is one of the greatest loves ever.  It was a privilege to be among those welcoming baby A into this world. I can hardly believe it was four months ago!

Little A has a pretty awesome birth story, I’d say. His mama contacted me months in advance. She and her husband knew they would be moving to the area and wanted to make sure and find a birth photographer to capture the big moments and little details surrounding the birth of their first child. Even though I had plans to be out of town the weekend before her due date, this mama had a good feeling and decided to take her chances. Fast forward to the week before… We were in the middle of one of the busiest hurricane seasons we’ve seen here on the Gulf Coast in quite a while. A tropical storm quickly turned into Hurricane Nate, and I canceled my out of town plans. It’s a good thing, too. Because wouldn’t you know — this mama went into labor the night Nate made landfall! Thankfully it was a relatively small hurricane and blew out quickly. The sun was shining by the time I went to the hospital that afternoon. Labor was long, though this mama stayed strong the entire time. She had her birth plan in place and stuck to it. With the help and support of her amazing husband and dedicated doula, she managed a natural birth without pain medication. Having done the same with my youngest, I couldn’t praise her enough for the wonderful job she did. Such a strong little man for his super strong mama and super proud daddy.

I’m so excited to share a glimpse of little A’s birth story with you. Please join me in welcoming him. This love story is full of preparation, anticipation, anxiousness, excitement, struggle (some pain), and ultimately overwhelming joy. Fair warning… there are a bit more photos than usual, since I had a difficult time choosing which parts of the story to share. 😉 You’ll get to hear more about this awesome family and see some more of A in the near future, too. I customized my Grow With Me Plan to fit his mama’s needs, so stay tuned for their fresh 48 and a newborn sessions on the blog soon. 🙂

Here are some highlights from his birth story. Enjoy! (And if you would like to schedule a birth session, please contact me.)

At Home Newborn Session | Baby Photographer Mobile, AL

I hope you’re all managing to stay warm on these uncharacteristically cold days we’ve been having. To bring a little ray of sunshine your way, here’s little N. 🙂 This handsome boy was right at 30 days new for his lifestyle newborn session!

I had such a great time photographing Mr. N at his home this fall. Since he was right at four weeks old, we knew going into the session that N might not sleep as soundly or curl up quite as tightly as younger newborns — meaning posed shots would be limited. Instead, our goal was to focus mainly on the connections he shared with his mama and daddy in his own little corner of the world – the place he was first brought home to – a place that will forever be special and remembered. And we did just that. Lifestyle newborn photos are some of my absolute favorites. They are the ones that really pull on my heart strings. Seeing a family’s obvious attachment and adoration of their newest member… Seeing their faces and capturing the way they look at this tiny miracle… Even the way they touch and hold onto him, and breathe in his presence… It can’t duplicated. These moments are just as unique as their little baby. And I find it powerful to capture those moments to be relived and cherished forever. After all, they’re this small only once.

Little N — I simply want to thank you for being you. Thank you for being a ray of sunshine, and bringing so much happiness to the world. Anyone who sees these photos will be able to see just how happy and proud your parents are that you’re here. You truly are a gift. Remember that.

Here are just a few highlights from this new baby boy’s session. And if you’d like to inquire about having a newborn session for your own miracle, I’d be happy to hear from you. Enjoy!

Fresh Bundle of Blue | First 48 Newborn Photography Mobile, AL

Now that most of the hustle and bustle of the season is over, I’m finally able to share another adorable session from earlier this year with y’all — Mr. C’s first 48 session! He was so fresh and new when I met him back in August. Such an incredibly sweet bundle of blue, all wrapped up as the perfect present for his family.

Baby C’s mama first contacted me about 1/2 way through her pregnancy. I was excited to find out they were going to wait to find out the gender of their little one until birth. Since we waited to find out the gender of our youngest, I know first hand it’s not always an easy thing to do. However, it really is a lot of fun. 🙂 I know I was anxiously awaiting the gender announcement when they went into the hospital and rejoiced in the the safe birth of their healthy baby boy. And of course, what I was feeling was nothing compared to what Mr. C’s family felt. There was so much joy and excitement in their room the next day. It was simply a pleasure to be there with them.

On the day of Little C’s fresh 48 session, the sun was shining and the sky was the perfect shade of blue. Just before I arrived he decided he was hungry, allowing me the chance to capture a truly sweet bonding experience between mama and son. Nursing photos are some of my favorites. There’s no telling how long nursing will last, since so very many factors are in place. And no matter how long it does last – and how long it feels like it lasted – whenever you look back, it feels like the blink of an eye. It’s so special having a memory of this bonding experience to look back on and cherish forever. Following snack, we captured all the little details — tiny feet and hands, the look and feel of the room… More bonding moments between father and son, as well as between mama and daddy too. There’s something about having a baby that takes the parents’ relationship to an entirely new level. The two of you lean into each other and become more than you’ve ever been before. <3

Baby C, it was more than obvious how smitten your parents and grandparents are with you. They couldn’t wait for your arrival and couldn’t get enough of holding you when you finally did arrive. My hope for you through the years is that you know just how special and loved you truly are.

Here are some highlights from Mr. C’s first 48 session. And if you’d like to inquire about a session yourself, I’d be happy to hear from you. Enjoy!

Adorable Baby Boy | Spanish Fort Newborn Photographer

Whoa! Where did 2017 go?! I can hardly believe that Christmas is upon us and we will soon be ringing in the new year. The past 12 months have been full of so much greatness, and I have quite a lot of catching up to do. Let’s start with this little fellow. Please say hello to Mr. A! He was 18 days new at his photo session. Don’t you think he’s an adorable baby boy?

I had the pleasure of taking little A’s newborn photos back in August. It’s hard to believe he’s nearly 5 months already! It was such a beautiful day — lots of sunshine, very few clouds, and temperatures in the 80s. (Quite a difference from the 40s we’ve been feeling lately, that’s for sure!) This handsome boy wasn’t having the best of days, though you’d never guess it from his photos. Sometimes it takes extra cuddles and a little more time, and that’s okay. Patience definitely pays off in the end. Despite his upset tummy, don’t you think he did an amazing job?! The lifestyle newborn photos from this session are some of my favorites.

Looking back at these precious moments, I can’t help but think how different he must already look… how much he’s already grown. All of these sweet little details that were captured have already changed forever. He’ll never again be as small as he was in his parents’ arms as he was then… Nor will he be able to curl up quite as tightly. It all happens so fast… life happens so fast. And I’m so happy to have been able to freeze time for this amazing family — to help them remember him this small forever.

Little A, I am so happy to have met you and your family. Their love for you was more than apparent as they comforted and settled you. You have many years ahead of you — lots to learn and loads of things to experience. Life won’t always be easy. There will be bumped heads, scraped knees, more tummy aches, maybe a broken bone or two, and perhaps even a broken heart. My advice to you is to turn to your parents when you need to. They’ll be there to help you through… to soothe and comfort you the best they can… the way they did on this particular day, the way they have done many days since, and the way they will continue to as you grow. You’re not only a blessing, but truly blessed as well.

Here are just a few highlights from this adorable baby boy’s newborn session. And if you’d like to inquire about a session yourself, I’d be happy to hear from you. Enjoy!
